To Our History
Tasting Great for over 30 Years!
Welcome to Llaeth Y Llan / Village Dairy where Gareth Roberts and his family have produced superb yogurt from their old farmhouse since the ’80s.
The recipe has been perfected by Gareth over the years and we’re all really proud of it here at LYL!
Where it all started
Tal Y Bryn Farm
Gareth Roberts grew up on Tal Y Bryn farm, the farm nestles outside the small village of Llannefydd (The famous ‘Llan’ in our name) with striking views of the North Wales coast and the dramatic Clwydian hills. The perfect setting for a farmer to develop his talents. Send us a message if you are interested in organising a tour to the farm and gardens.
Back to Basics
Supplying the local Llan.
As a young man Gareth was forever thinking of ways to experiment with his 50 acre farm. He and Falmai both attended courses to extend their knowledge of food production and business, looking to diversify in tough times. A small Milk round was acquired supplying the local village and surrounding areas in the early 80’s to increase income coming into the farm.
The Big Launch
The milk round became very popular with more and more demand for other products. After experimenting with different products Gareth and Falmai finally launch Llaeth y Llan Yoghurt in 1985 with a little help from the youngest of the three children, Gruff.
And to this day they still use local wholesome Welsh milk.
Plenty of hard work and perseverance has helped create a beautifully Welsh yoghurt that people throughout Great Britain love eating!
And long may it last.
