Let's Grow Together

Dear School,

Here is an opportunity to WIN £1500 to build your own School garden space .

We would like to take this opportunity to encourage all your pupils to enter our “Let’s Grow Together ” competition, designing an outdoor space of their choice dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing.

We would like to encourage your pupils to take an active interest in their environment and learn about why outdoor spaces are so important for both their wellbeing and the way they learn.

We would like you to enter separate designs , one from Key Stage 1 and one from Key Stage 2.

This is an activity that will encourage all pupils to work together as a team with their classmates, to help achieve their favourite overall design.

We would like pupils to use their imagination, be innovative and incorporate all their creative ideas , giving thought to using the following themes within their design:

  • Clever use of space - big or small areas (size doesn't matter here)
  • Seating areas and workstations – area for reading/thinking/chatting/meditating
  • Recycling and upcycling - metal, wood, plastic (even using a Llaeth y Llan yogurt pot)
  • Growing & sustainability - flowers, vegetables, foliage, fruit trees - absolutely anything in your space
  • Protecting wildlife and their habitats – bugs and ladybirds, hedgehogs, birds, pond life , even chickens !
  • Pollination - encouraging bees and butterflies by planting pollinator friendly plants
  • Power in the environment – Solar lights, wind sculptures etc.
  • Composting – the importance of reducing food waste going into landfill.
  • Saving water – rainwater storage
  • Incorporate storage solutions
